As I did last year, I made an exchange puzzle for the IPP this year and have about a dozen extra that I will put up for sale on my Etsy store. Here are some pictures:


The puzzle has two challenges: the first is to fit seven of the red triangles into the smaller frame (which fits neatly into the larger frame), and the second is, you guessed it, fit all nine of the red triangles into the larger frame.
The design is based on packing research I found on Erich Friedman’s extremely cool “Packing Center” website. (SPOILER ALERT: his website shows the solutions). Credit for the seven-piece and the nine-piece solutions goes to Erich Friedman and Maurizio Morandi, respectively. They generously gave me permission to use their designs for the puzzle.
